Born & raised right here in Cincinnati and a rock fan since my single digits, thanks in part to my sister Carol, who is a few years older and was able to introduce me to great bands & music. She also used to ask me to record “voice overs” into her portable tape recorder for funny ‘show’ ideas. She even let her l’il sis tag along as her rock concert buddy (my first 2 listed below). I really owe a lot of what I do today to her.
Fun fact: I’ve actually worked for ‘the Fox’ three different times for three different companies, all in Cincinnati. My first gig as a radio intern was to wear the ole Fox mascot costume in the Harvest Home Parade in Cheviot (early 90s). A rather hot ‘n stinky job, as I recall…and I was in danger of being clotheslined by powerlines, as I was rockin’ with my fake guitar on top of the station truck. But… I made it to rock another day…and another, and another, which brings me to now… where I LOVE getting to play the best rock ever made Saturdays 10am – 2pm and Sundays 4pm – 7pm, and enjoy it with all of you. Thank you for listening to 92.5 the Fox…and I hope to see you at an upcoming show soon.
First rock concert: Loverboy at Timberwolf (Kings Island) – 1982. Went with my sister. There was an opening band called Point Blank who had a radio hit at the time “Oh Nicole.” I bought a Loverboy tour jersey that I have since gotten signed by Mike Reno and Paul Dean (and although the shirt fits a little differently now, I can still squeeze into it.)
Second rock concert: Judas Priest with Uriah Heep at the Gardens. Also 1982… the Screaming for Vengeance Tour. That one solidified Judas Priest as one of my all-time favorites to this day…and I have been to every possible Priest concert in town ever since. I remember being nervous about showing Mom my concert shirts I bought that night… (still have my Priest shirts too).
First album I bought with my own allowance: Billy Squier “Don’t Say No”
First CD I ever purchased: The Cult “Love”
My hubs, Chris, also plays classic rock…he’s the drummer for Cincy local band Bad Habit… check ’em out sometime!
