Jethro Tull AQUALUNG celebrates it’s 45th anniversary this weekend!

Released March 19, 1971, it was the 4th studio album released by Tull.

It was their first album with John Evan as a full-time member, their first with new bassist Jeffery Hammond and last album featuring Clive Bunker on drums.

Aqualung has sold more than 7 million copies worldwide and is Jethro Tull’s best selling album. The album was well-received, and has been included on several music magazine “best of” lists.

The album spawned one single, “Hymn 43”.

The idea for the cover came from a photograph that Ian Anderson’s wife took of a homeless man on Thames Embankment.

Aqualung is listed in the book 1001 Albums You Must Hear Before You Die.

Rolling Stone included it on their list of “The 500 Greatest Albums of All Time” at # 333.
